Situated at the heart of Hartshill for over 175 years, Holy Trinity plays an important role in the village; celebrating weddings and baptisms, and honouring the lives of those who have passed.
The National Churches trust recently reported that in the last 10 years over 3500 churches have closed in the UK. This not only has a massive effect on attendees but also has a detrimental effect on whole communities. Holy Trinity church is not presently in danger of closure but we believe that now is the time to reflect on its role in our community. Church buildings are more than places of worship; they are community hubs, historic landmarks and spaces for people to come together.
In 2023, Holy Trinity PCC decided to set up a Church Project team to consider, with God's help, the way forward.
In 2025,a questionnaire was produced by the Church Project team, seeking thoughts from the community on how the space can be developed for the benefit of everyone.
The responses were analysed and several areas of focus were identified, including:
We are keeping the local community informed of progress on the project via a Project Newsletter.
Early in June 2026, we hope to deliver this newsletter to each house in Hartshill.
We also want to ensure that the community’s needs are being met by conducting a survey.
